What do podiatrists do?
Podiatry focuses on the improvement of overall health and well-being of patients through the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of conditions associated with the feet and lower limbs.

Podiatrists diagnose and treat a wide range of foot and lower limb conditions such as

  • corns and callouses
  • ingrown toenails
  • skin and nail disorders
  • foot injuries and deformities
  • diabetic foot conditions

They also work with the healthcare team to diagnose, monitor and treat foot conditions of patients with bone and joint disorders such as arthritis, neurological and circulatory diseases and diabetes.

What are the fields of practice for podiatrists?
There are also opportunities to work in areas such as (but not limiting to):

  • Arthritis
  • Biomechanics
  • Orthotics
  • Sports medicine
  • Podopaediatrics
    • specialises in children's feet; deals with problems relating to child foot development, posture and correcting walking styles that may be causing problems

What educational qualifications do I need to practice as a podiatrist in Singapore?
You must complete formal tertiary education to qualify as a podiatrist.

Minimum Qualification:: Degree in Podiatry
Institute for training :: Overseas Tertiary institutions
